Carl Ripken Jr

Carl Ripken Jr. was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend.  MLB.com did a nice summary of his speech.

Every baseball player today should be forced to watch or read his speech.  For that matter any pro or amateur athlete should too.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio

If you haven’t heard of Sheriff Joe Arpaio, check out this Wikipedia link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Arpaio
I have to say I like his thinking on how to handle inmates.  I’m not endorsing what he does or how he goes about it, but I do believe he is on track on how to handle overcrowding.  Imagine “tent cities” setup [...]

Goodbye Harry

My wife gave me my first Harry Potter book shortly after our son was born.  She thought it would be nice for me to read it to him someday.  Though we haven’t done that just yet, my son and I have enjoyed talking about Harry and his adventures and watching some of the movies together [...]

Angry American

Great link over at MilkandCookies today

I’m not advising anyone to sign the petition at the end.  I just thought the recorded interviews of several government officials contradicting themselves (OK call it lying) was worth the view.  And of course “I’m mad as hell and can’t stand it anymore.”  is always worth a listen.

Quote of the day

You cannot make a man by standing a sheep on its hind legs. But by standing a flock of sheep in that position you can make a crowd of men.

TheRealMe for President

OK – it’s the first the time I can run for President, so I am.  Consider me a third-party write-in candidate.  I’m not looking for any donations for my campaign.  I’m looking to see how much impact this media may have on the forth coming election.  To that extend over the course of the coming [...]

onLine Me and Google

I noticed that the most popular post on onLine Me was my post on John Lovell.  Curious to know why, I did a quick Google search for “John Lovell” and there it is, the 8th post down.  Pretty cool.  Never thought this blog would make the Google first ten of any search.  I hoped those who [...]

Why questions

Thoughtful post today on LinkedIn Answers: Seeing Life thru the eyes of a 4 1/2 year old
What I really found most interesting were the responses.  Some cited “no time” while quite a few mentioned “going along to get along” as the reason why as adults we don’t ask Why questions.  I know I’m guilty but [...]

Quote of the day

The nice part about being a pessimist is that you are constantly being either proven right or pleasantly surprised.
  – George F. Will
That’s what I’ve been telling people for years.

Transformers

It’s been a long time since I anticipated seeing a movie in a theater or even willing to pay to see a movie in a theater for myself.  Most of the time it’s taking the children to see the latest Dreamworks or Pixar films, which I too enjoy but i could wait for the DVD.  [...]
