Barry Bonds

OK my take on Barry Bonds, Giambi and Sosa.  If it can be proven that any player has taken any illegal body enhancing measures while those measures were illegal then I say restrict them from the record books and Hall of Fame.  If you cannot prove that they did anything illegal or they took measures that at one time were legal and are now not, then I believe you have to let their record stand and consider them for the Hall of Fame.  So if a player did a drug that 5-10 years ago was legal and then stopped taking those drugs when they became illegal, they are safe.  If they continued to take those drugs even after they became illegal, then they are not safe and their record(s) need to be removed, revised whatever.

In my mind records are made to be broken, so I have no issue with Barry Bonds if he does break Aaron’s record.  If it is proven beyond a doubt that he did use illegal means to enhance his performance while those means were illegal then I think we need to invalidate his record.

And of course all this Bonds talk makes it a no brainer that Pete Rose should be in the Hall of Fame.  Hell all he did was apparently bet on a few games.  It doesn’t appear that he juiced up to get his records.
